Scott Johnson's Biography:
I grew up in Cleveland, studied engineering at Cornell, and began my career writing a lot of code. Eventually I was demoted to management, and I managed a bunch of coders. Then I went to business school at MIT, started a company, and learned about sales and marketing as an executive. Then Barry Rosenbaum and I managed a corporate venture fund at Cambridge Technology Partners in 1997 that had a 10x return. In 2001 I founded DFJ New England with Todd Hixon and Tim Rowe, which was also a top decile fund. We formed New Atlantic Ventures (NAV) in 2008 with John Backus and Thanasis Delistathis. Big wins since 2000 are Massive (sold to Microsoft) and EnerNOC (Nasdaq ENOC). Recently I have been doing a lot of investing in NYC, where I oversee NAV's investments in YieldBot, Solve Media, Truveris and Pontiflex. My commute from Belmont to Kendall Square has been exactly the same for the last 20 years. For fun, I do some woodworking, cooking, sailing, skiing & soccer.
